The new school term had begun which made it the perfect time for a new inspection of the school. The last few sessions of the board of governors had included skme tough negotiations over budget and Aurelius had been dispatched to audit that the funds had been appropriately spent. It was a boring task, but Audish didn't mind this chance at an official trip into Dumbeldore's domain to assess the state of affairs. The Dark Lord was suspecting that something was afoot and Audish was determined to get to the bottom of it before it became an impediment to their cause.
A secondary issue on his agenda was to check adherence to the current curriculum. There had been a similarly heated debated on the subject of muggle studies. The school's liberal attitude towards the subject had been a source of upset for many of the institutions wealthy donors. Audish couldn't understand why the current webmaster would rather run the place into the ground than bend to will of his betters, but he was determined to give a comprehensive report.
He'd asked the teaching staff to arrange for him to interview a selection of students across different years to gain a proper insight into how far things had gone. There was a thought in his mind, and he was sure in that some of the other governors would very much agree, that some adjustments to the Hogwarts staff were just begging to be made. He'd once though Dippet too soft, but Dumbledore was starting to make him wish for Dippet to return. The man had seen reason on occasion.
He'd borrowed one of the teachers offices, displacing an gentleman called Montgomery. The office smelt of spices and tea and there was a crystal ball placed on one of the shelves on the wall. Great. He'd taken over the space of a quack.
Aurelius looked at his schedule. First up was a Gryffindor girl, a Miss Yiann... whatever. He looked at the name in dismay. Was that a spelling mistake? How did you even say that? Nevermind. Was that a knock on the door already?
"Do come in," he said in in a friendly tone trying to put on a kind expression. "Have a seat, my dear and make yourself comfortable."
Aurelius let a few moments pass until his interviewee was seated.
"Did your head of house explain why you are here?" he asked softly. Aurelius planned to go through it again anyway, but he was curious what, if anything, the staff at Hogwarts had managed to explain.
