Oriana had been reasonably pleased with herself for her gin-and-gillywater stunt - it was simple, it was effective and she knew it would have annoyed the Irishman, so a win all round.

She hadn't stuck around to hear exactly how annoyed he was with his drink, more's the pity, but she had places to be and things to run. She'd done a stint behind the bar while her barman changed one of the barrels, and noticed from afar that Deitha and Odhrán were just standing up. They'd only had a drink each so they couldn't need the bathroom this quickly.

Oriana kept the scowl in her mind from reaching her face, but as she couldn't resist raising an eyebrow as she heard Odhrán pontificating about being whisked away... and he called Deitha 'my dearest'? My, my, how times had changed. She thought Deitha had had better taste.

Whatever Odhrán thought was a delightful idea would probably make her retch into the nearest bin, and they apparated away, Oriana was left with a bemused expression.

On the other hand, her barman, just returning from changing the barrel, might have suggested it looked more like a slapped haddock, but was far too polite to say such things, especially to his boss...

Of all the bloody cheek! She'd been determined not to let O'Doilly under her skin but he seemed determined to try. Counting out the price of his drink in individual knuts when he had a perfectly good sickle? And just to rub it in, adding a poor lonely knut as a tip 'to buy something nice'? Like a piano? Spoilt posh knob probably didn't know how much one actually cost.

"A joanna? Have ya gone soft an' muggle on me, O'Doilly?" Turning to Deitha, she jerked a thumb in Odhrán's direction. "Daffy, luv, can't you talk some sense into him? You remember how ol' Oriana lays on a proper shindig, and it don't involve no piano."

Truth be told, she had actually thought about having a piano for the Morning Star; Revolution was intended more as a social venue, and the Morning Star as a backstreet boozer ambience where a piano in the corner might encourage a good old singalong or two. She hated the idea that she and Odhrán might have agreed on something, even by accident.

"Well, if that'll be all, I have other firsty customers, so if you'll excuse me."

But there was a limit to how much banter she could muster on her feet for Odhrán. All that upbringing and fancy start to life did have a few perks, and she had to concede this round might be a draw even with home field advantage. There'd be a next time, though. She'd see to it.

Oriana had watched those two talk quietly amongst themselves, and then she heard Deitha laughed. Clearly a joke at her expense. Still, she'd promised that Mr O'Doilly a gin and gillywater, sans anything else, and that she was going to deliver.

She saunted back over to their table, drink in hand.

"Here ya go, Mr O'Doilly, one gin an' gillywater with nuffin' in it just as you aaaaahsked." She did wonder if - just to rub it in, she should gift it on the house, but you need to have a point of escalation. "That'll be 24 knuts, luv."

"Come an' see me aaaanytime if ya wahnt somefing, luvver." She winked. There. Just enough to put Mr Fancypant's nose just out of joint.

Watching these two was quite the caper for her. Poor little Deitha, trying so hard not to flirt, always unlucky in love. And as for Odhrán, there would have to be a score settled there. But not today. Not round here, anyway.

"Mr Ó Dálaigh, I'm sure I cahn find you a gin an' gillywater. And seein' as it's you, I won't even put anything in it." You're only supposed to put a slice of lime in a gin and tonic, even if the tonic is gillywater, cuts the alkaline of the juniper and gives it a bit of life. Odhrán would probably go spare if he had to deal with a gin and tonic without it, though, so even more reason to.

"And the lovely Miss Albron, still drinkin' the rum an' black, are we? Don't let me keep you, though," Her voice dropped conspiratorially, "I'd watch aht for Mr O-Doilly 'ere. He's a right 'un, and I remember how you... prefer a bit of the other." A click of the tongue, a wink and Oriana walked away.

She had no idea what those two were doing together, they seemed so unsuitable, but it'd be fun finding out.

Oriana was a little surprised by the knock at her door. She had expected it to be quiet - it was a quiet night of the week, the initial 'new place in town' trade had began to drift, the regular crowd had settled in, and there was plenty of trade, just in different evenings. It was even quite cushy, really, this place had settled into a different routine to Revolution, quite nice really.

But Gregory, the barman, asked about the red wine - he was new, and Oriana had figured the punters in this part of town weren't the fancy type. So a question about the house red was unexpected, and when Gregory mentioned in passing that the punter had asked about a 1954 Malbec, she laughed.

"Fancy that, eh, someone rahnd 'ere wanting a Malbec? I wonder... which table did you say they was at?"

Oriana let Gregory lead the way from out back, and let him point the table. Even across the bar - it wasn't the brightest of venues, intentionally of course - but she could make out the two figures at the table. Was... was that the Irishman? What was Ó Dálaigh doing here? How the mighty have fallen.

And who was that with him? She had to contain the laugh... how the mighty have fallen, if he's hobnobbing with Deitha bloody Albron. She'd had a couple of run-ins over the years, both professionally... and personally.

Well, well, and they both here. Even she couldn't contain a small cackle.

"I'm afraid," she said, affecting the poshest accent she could muster, "That the house red is just a cheap French cab. sauv." The accent didn't stick, though. "I'm rahver afraid I don't have anyfing quite as fancy as a Malbec, not rahnd 'ere, anyway."

"Is there anyfing I can get the pair of you?"

She wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of being the first to say something.
