Canon
Foe
.Glass is based on the Harry Potter books and movies. We do not consider additional franchise materials to be canon. That means events and details from the video games and other materials haven't happened in our universe. We may occasionally borrow ideas from other franchise materials, but please don't take them as a given.

We made a deliberate choice to limit additions to the Harry Potter source material to keep the setting accessible and easy to join for new players.
Site CanonPurebloods
Foe
.Glass considers being a pureblood witch or wizard a social construct. No character is 100% pure. This means if a character self-identifies as pureblood that's an expression of social class and beliefs rather than biological facts.

We'd therefore ask that if you are going to create a new pureblood family and portray them as well respected and influential among other purebloods to stick to the traditional image of pureblood families. After all, why would you claim to be part of a political movement if you don't share its views and values?

It is our understanding that the books and movies base traditional pureblood culture on the archaic customs and visual language of Victorian England. We'd like to maintain this look and feel where possible.

Of course, individual characters may rebel against their upbringing and some families may be more extreme than others in what they are willing to do in the name of blood purity. Naturally, there are also families who may have fallen out of favour in society. You are welcome to create a family of "blood traitors" if you are comfortable with the in-character reactions this may receive from other purebloods.
Muggle World
Foe
.Glass takes the point of view that most muggle inventions do not work in the magical world. Many would not have even existed in the time period we are set. There were no iPhones, and internet access wasn't publicly available on a wide scale until the mid-1990s. The aim of this role play is to portray a magical world set during the first rise of Lord Voldemort, not to deliver a representation of Britain in the 60s and early 70s. Please keep threads set in the muggle world to a minimum.
St Mungo's
In our timeline part of St. Mungo's has been infiltrated by Death Eaters. This currently isn't known to other characters.
Death Eaters
Death Eaters are available as playable characters and you are welcome to join their ranks. The Death Eaters are currently at the start of their campaign and reign of terror. As such focus may be on gathering of intelligence, widening of scope influence and gaining access to key institutions. Only the most ardent followers of Voldemort would be marked as Death Eaters. At this point we will not be accepting characters who are planning to betray the Dark Lord or who are 'Good Death Eaters'.
Order of the Phoenix
The Order of the Phoenix is freshly established and open to accepting new members. All members of the order must be adults. It would make sense if new recruits to the order had some useful skills to offer the group. It is unlikely a new member would be trusted with the deepest secrets of the order if they haven't proven themselves in some way.
Hogwarts
Foe
.Glass makes the assumption that Hogwarts is a little larger than portrayed in the movies. There are probably several professors covering core classes. This means an original potions professor could exist alongside the canonically established Professor Slughorn.
